#IRC4KIDS' RULES, REGULATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS
Like most of real life, #irc4kids has a set of rules that we expect ALL users opped, voiced or otherwise, to follow or suffer the consequences. In the event you break a rule, you will first get a kick, second a ban. We have Zero-Tolerance for breaking of these rules, you mess up, you get kicked. It's THAT simple. These Rules are essential to make our channel grow, and also for it to be fun and fair to all users.

1) TALK ABOUT SEX OR SEXUAL CONDUCT IN A PRIVATE MESSAGE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED!
2) No fservers or porn/warez trading in the channel. Triggers (such as !list will get you banned!)
3) No flooding (this includes excessive color codes or repeating). Do not repeat more than once in two seconds.
4) No advertising--this means even your own channel or webpage.
5) All occupants of this channel shall communicate in ENGLISH ONLY on the main channel.
6) Rudeness, disrespect and/or verbal abuse towards ANY user, Op, Regular or normal user, will NOT be tolerated.
7) No Co-Channeling in "bad" channels. (Bad meaning anything to do with sex,drugs, suggestive themes)
8) No Op/Voice Begging!!! Ops is something you earn, not just get because you ask. Like all users, you must progress through the ranks.
9)Inappropriate Nicknames or Ident Responses are NOT allowed
10)If you report a pervert, please do so via private message.
11) Discussion of drugs and alcohol is a bannable offense. (Example: Marijuana, Ecstasy.) Any Legal drug, like advil or tylenol is allowed, as long as discussion relates to proper use.
12) All seen scripts and auto-ping scripts are prohibited
13) Channel Bots are not permitted, without express consent from the channel owner.
14) We allow users of any age, although if you are OVER THE AGE OF 22 YOU MUST NOTIFY AN OP THAT YOU ARE OVERAGE AND MUST STATE YOUR PURPOSE OF BEING IN THE CHATROOM!
15) Revolving door, also known as fly-bys (when you join and part real fast) are prohibited.
16) Racism will not be tolerated.
17) Swearing is permitted, however, don't abuse it, the ability to swear is a priviledge, not a right, and CAN be taken from you.
18) Discussion of sexual topics in the chatroom are permitted, as long as a line is not crossed. If an op or helper tells you it is not permitted., then stop it.
ANY VIOLATION OF THESE RULES WILL GET YOU A WARNING, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF RULE #1. FURTHER VIOLATIONS WILL RESULT IN YOU WINNING A BAN. IF YOU STILL VIOLATE THESE RULES YOU MAY WIN A G:LINE BY A FRIENDLY UNDERNET IRC OPERATOR AND YOU WILL BE REPORTED BY EITHER A CHANNEL OP OR UNDERNET TO YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER AND/OR THE FEDERAL AUTHORITIES. VIOLATIONS OF RULES THAT INVOLVE ANY CRIMINAL ACTIVITY AUTOMATICALLY GET YOUR HOSTNAME SENT TO AUTHORITIES SUCH AS THE FBI, INTERPOL, ETC!
********** #irc4kids Operator/helper responsibilities **********
The role of the channel operator and the channel helper is to ensure appropriate utilization of the channel and to make the channel a fun place for anyone to visit. In order to do this effectively, all channel operators or channel helpers, in an opped or voiced mode are expected to talk in the channel, keep the conversation flowing and answer users' questions appropriately.
You can find out who is who by typing /msg X access #irc4kids (x username)
The Hierarchy of access levels is as follows:
500 - Channel Owner
499 - Channel Administrators
400 - Junior Administrators
350 - Senior Operators
200 - Channel Operators
100 - Interim Operators
99 - Channel Helpers
0 – Regular user
******Ops or helpers who are unable to chat in our channel should deop or devoice themselves so it is clear that they are not presently watching the channel. ANY STATUS CHANGE IN A NICKNAME (such as UserAWAY) must be deopped or devoiced, even if at the computer, so it is clear that the user cannot pay 150% attention to the channel.******
********If you suspect an OP or helper idling, msg or notice them, give them 5 minutes to respond, and if there is no response, deop/devoice them. If you wish, you may also utilize the !lastspoke script on the bot to see when the last line of text was. If it is 15 minutes or more, deop or devoice the user.
Ops are expected to report major problems to an admin and to ensure that all personal matters are kept out of the channel.
ANY 400+ who adds an unauthorized entry into X without that user being reviewed by channel administrators will result in a deletion of the unauthorized entry AND The 400+ will be demoted to Senior Operator.
Do not voice any person not found on X, We dont care if the user is your best real life friend/family member, they are to be treated as a normal user, until the founder decides that they are to be considered a helper.
No kicking just for fun or because "I'm Bored". OPS ARE NOT EXEMPT FROM KICKS BECAUSE THEY BREAK RULES
Just because you are op absolutely does NOT mean you are above the rules, you are a role model to other users, you are expected to follow ALL Rules. Failure to do this will result in a demotion or removal
Channel participation is essential to the growth and stability of this channel. If you are unable to participate please deop or devoice. Failure to do so will result in loss of ALL Status, forcing you to start as a normal user again. Ops are not permitted to watch the channel from a bot partyline without physically joining the channel. Any staff member discovered doing so will have bot priviledges removed. Repeated offenses will be fired, on the grounds of no participation
Our Ban format is necessary for easy reference for bans, and to make the reasons sound professional. The ban reasons should not be Bad Channels or "Pervert/Pedophile" as usual. The ban format is as follows. Please use reasons such as "Inappropriate Behavior" or "Inappropriate Channels". Do NOT use the Bad channels or pervert ban message
Pedophile was Kicked by X (<nick of offender> reason date)
the Brackets are required, so your ban command should look like <nickname> Inappropriate Behavior date
The Date format is mm/dd/yyyy
Here is a little script snippet for mIRC users to simplify this process, simply add this to the Nick List section of the popup tab:

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE BAN REGULATIONS WILL RESULT IN A SUSPENSION AND/OR REVOCATION OF YOUR ACCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is the role of all existing ops to act as a mentor to all new ops. In addition, if any op is exhibiting inappropriate behavior in the channel, the correct procedure is to log the incident and relay info to Admins and the founder. (NEVER handle this issue personally).
Questions concerning channel etiquette should be addressed to an Admin.
Please remember, the channel rules apply to ALL channel occupants.
Abuse of power will result in the loss of your status.(1 warning only)
Any script that performs an external function (secure query scripts, seen scripts, auto-ping, etc. are not permitted.)
Clones are limited to Admins ---, with permission from the founder, may have one. Clones do NOT mean bar scripts, 8 ball scripts, etc.
Staff members should not be using encryption or foreign languages in the channel because not everyone can read it. (foreign languages mean other than English)
HELPER-SPECIFIC RULES:
Helpers are only cleared by routed, Only routed may decide if a regular is ready for helper status. Ops may notify routed of potential helpers, but they may not be hired until routed sees so. ALL USERS THAT ARE TO BE HELPERS MUST BE NOTICED AS A REGULAR FOR AT LEAST 1 MONTH, ALL HELPERS ARE TO BE CLEARED BY ROUTED BEFORE THEY CAN BE VOICED
Helpers should:
Helpers should notice any behavior that is unacceptable from all users, and punish as necessary.
When Idling, helpers are to devoice themselves.
In the event that X is unable to respond, helpers are to ask to be voiced in the channel where all can see. Don't ask more than once in 5 minutes to be voiced, if you are not voiced, then there is a reason for it.
- Helpers are NOT operators, they simply are channel voices with level 99 access to X. You are NOT entitled to ops at any given time.
- Helpers are to ban misbehaving users according to the format below. Any unacceptable bans are grounds for demotion to channel regular status.
-Helpers are REQUIRED to join #irc4kidsops on connect, for it is the staff channel, and helpers, by definition, are channel staff.
Ban Rules:
#IRC4Kids has a Universal Ban format that every staff member must follow. Failure to follow these rules is not acceptable, and ignorance isn't an excuse, it will just get you removed. These are the Rules:
- Bans set on X must have a detailed reason "BAD CHANNELS" AND "PERVERT" or "PEDOPHILE" ARE UNACCEPTABLE BAN REASONS!!!!!!!!!!! You can use lines such as "You have been caught in unacceptable channels" (replacing bad channels) or "Inappropriate Channel Behavior" (Replacing Pervert or Pedophile). For users who flood or advertise, or contain virii, use "General annoyance" or "you have a virus, join #dmsetup for help in virus removal"
-Bans can NOT under ANY Circumstances be demeaning or inappropriate.
-Bans Must contain the nickname(s) of the offender(s) along with the Americanized Date ((mm/dd/yyyy))
Ban Format:
This is the command to ban on X
/msg X ban #irc4kids <nickname> <time (1-336)> <access level: (in this case 99)> <reason>
A ban command for the user ChildLove is as follows:
/msg X ban #irc4kids ChildLove 336 99 <ChildLove> Inappropriate Nickname
To load this Ban assisting line into popups, click the little /a icon at the top of mIRC, click popups, and go to View ---> Nicklist, and put the following in the box:

An Alias to help you with banning is as follows: simply paste this line into any mirc window and use /xban and follow the directions:
/alias /xban /msg x ban $chan $?="Enter Nickname" $?="Enter time" 99 < $?="Enter Nickname again" > $?="Enter a reason" $adate
